Read below on preparing your quilt for longarm quilting.
When preparing your quilt for longarm quilting, please keep in mind the following:
1. Be sure your backing is a minimum of 8" wider and 8" longer than your quilt top, 10" is even better. This allows for the quilt back to be properly loaded onto the rollers and to have the sides clamped.
2. Trim threads on both sides of the quilt top - loose threads are difficult to remove once quilting has taken place.
3. Batting size should also be at least 8"wider and 8" longer than your quilt top.
4. If your quilt top has borders, be sure the borders are flat*. Borders that are wavy may end up with a pleat quilted into the border. *To help keep your borders from waving, measure blocks before you piece them together. Always measure for your borders at both ends and in the middle of the quilt and take the average of the three measurements. This is an accurate way to determine the length to cut your borders. Be sure to pin them in place and sew with an accurate 1/4" seam.
